“September is here, and we’re ready for a fresh start! This month, we’re celebrating Secondhand September and all the treasures waiting to be discovered at the Blue Heron. There’s something special about secondhand style. It’s thoughtful, sustainable, budget-friendly, and always a little unexpected. This September, we’re celebrating a movement that brings all of those things together: Secondhand September.

Secondhand September was started by Oxfam in the United Kingdom in 2019. It began as a 30-day challenge asking people to avoid buying brand-new clothing during September and choose secondhand instead.

The campaign was created to raise awareness about the environmental effects of fast fashion, reduce clothing waste, and encourage people to donate or give existing clothes a longer life. It has since grown into an international movement—which makes it a great fit for consignment boutiques like The Blue Heron Boutique!

Secondhand September is a movement that encourages people to shop secondhand instead of buying brand-new clothing throughout September.

The goal is to:

● Reduce clothing waste
● Keep quality items out of landfills
● Give clothing and accessories a second life
● Make more sustainable shopping choices
● Support consignment shops like The Blue Heron Boutique

It’s basically the perfect month to celebrate everything our boutique already stands for—beautiful, quality pieces don’t have to be brand-new to feel new!

Celebrate Secondhand September With Us!

We’re taking the Secondhand September challenge one step further with our 1st Blue Heron Experience - The Blue Heron Boutique is hosting a Secondhand Ladies Night on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Shop our evening hours from 5 pm - 7 pm. 

Come with a friend, wear something secondhand, and shop our fully stocked fall racks as we celebrate the fun of secondhand shopping, giving fashion a second life, and supporting local. Let us know you're coming! Join us - COUNT ME IN

It's Really - Coming Soon: The Heron’s Nest

We’re excited to share that the launch of The Heron’s Nest, our online store featuring a curated selection of high-end clothing, handbags, jewelry, and accessories, is getting very close!

Soon, you’ll be able to shop some of your favorite Blue Heron finds from home. Once we launch, be sure to check back often—our online collection will continue to grow, with select pieces added regularly.

As you get ready for a new season, it may also be the perfect time to clean out your closet. We are now accepting Fall drop-offs!

Bring us your gently loved fall clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories, and give those pieces a chance to find a new home.
